tagd

Privacy Policy

Effective August 30, 2026

tagd is operated by Marker 78 Collective, LLC, doing business as tagd ("tagd," "we," "us"). This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we do not do with it.

The short version. We collect the minimum needed to run the service. We do not sell your information. We never share mobile phone numbers with third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes. We do not track buyers who scan your tags across other sites. If a buyer asks a seller for a viewing or makes an offer, we pass their contact details to that seller and to no one else.

Information we collect

If you join the mailing list

When you submit your email address on our website, we store that address so we can contact you about tagd. We also record your browser's user-agent string so we can filter out automated submissions.

If you create a tagd account

Signing in requires an email address. We send a six-digit code to that address and store a hashed version of the code briefly so it can be verified once, then discarded. We keep your email address to identify your account and the listings that belong to it.

Information you provide about what you are selling

When you build a listing, we store the details you supply and confirm about your item, the photos you upload, and the listing copy generated from them. Photos are stored in Cloudflare R2 and served from our own domain.

Your listing card is a public page. Anyone with the link or the printed code can see the photos, price, and details on it, so treat everything you put on a listing as public.

Tag scans and link clicks

When someone scans a tagd QR code or taps a link on a tagd listing card, we record that the event happened, which tag it came from, whether it was scanned or typed, the browser's user-agent string, and the time. Scanning itself is anonymous: it gives us no name, phone number, email address, or precise location.

So that a buyer who opens a page six times shows up to the seller as one interested person rather than six, we group repeat visits into a visit profile. The grouping works like this. For each item, we generate a random key the first time anyone arrives at it. We combine that key with the visitor's IP address, their browser's user-agent string, and the item they arrived at, and run the result through a one-way hash. We store the hash. We do not store the IP address: it is read from the request, mixed in, and gone when the request finishes. The hash cannot be turned back into an IP address without the key.

The key is held only while the item is actively for sale, and never longer than 45 days. It is destroyed when the seller marks the item sold, or when 45 days have passed, whichever comes first. Once it is destroyed, the visits it grouped cannot be linked to a person or to any later visit by anyone, including us, and no new key is issued for that item. Because the key is different for every item, the same phone visiting two different items produces two unrelated hashes, so we cannot follow anyone from one listing to another.

A seller sees these profiles as short nicknames, such as D1U3, meaning the third new visitor on the first day their item was live, along with how many times that visitor came back and whether they arrived by QR code or by typing the address. The nickname is a label for a pattern of visits and nothing more. It carries no name, no phone number, no email address, no location, and no device identifier, and it stops existing as a link to anyone when the key is destroyed.

We do not build advertising profiles, we do not use third-party analytics or advertising trackers, and we do not follow anyone across other sites. Contacting a seller is a separate, deliberate step, described next.

If you contact a seller through a listing page

A listing card lets a buyer ask to schedule a viewing or make an offer. If you use one of those, we collect what you enter — your name, a phone number or other way to reach you, and the message, requested time, or offer amount — and we pass it to the seller of that listing. Arranging the sale is the whole reason it is sent.

We do not sell that information, do not use it to market to you, and do not share it with anyone besides that seller and the providers below who help deliver the message. You do not need a tagd account to contact a seller, and we do not create one for you.

Some sellers connect their own calendar to tagd so the times you are offered are the times they are genuinely free. When you book one of those times, your name and the contact details you entered are sent to Cal.com, the calendar service that seller uses, so the appointment and its invitation can be created. That is the only reason it is sent. If the contact detail you gave is not an email address, the invitation goes to a tagd address instead of yours, and your details reach the seller through tagd as usual. You are not signed up for anything, by us or by them.

If you email a seller

A seller can publish an @ontagd.com address on their listing. Email sent to that address is delivered to the seller in full and unchanged, exactly as you wrote it. It is also read by Taggart, the tagd assistant, which may reply to you straight away with details the seller has already confirmed about that item. Taggart's reply says who it is in its first line, and the seller can step into the conversation at any point, after which Taggart stops replying.

To do that we store your email address, your name if your mail program sends one, the text of your message, Taggart's reply, and which listing the message was about. We keep it so the seller has the conversation and so Taggart does not repeat itself; we do not use it to market to you and we do not share it with anyone besides that seller and the providers below. If you would rather not have an automatic reply, say so and the seller will answer you personally.

Cookies

We use two essential cookies, neither of which is used for advertising or cross-site tracking, and we do not use third-party advertising or analytics cookies. The first keeps you signed in: it contains your email address and an expiration time, and is cryptographically signed so it cannot be altered. The second is optional and only exists if you ask for it: a seller can mark their own devices, so that their visits to their own listings are recorded but not counted as buyer interest. That mark is a signed cookie on that device containing only the seller's account number, it gives the device no access to anything, and it can be removed at any time from the page that set it. Cloudflare's Turnstile bot check on our sign-in form may set its own short-lived cookie to record that the check passed.

SMS and mobile numbers

We do not share or sell mobile phone numbers. Mobile numbers are never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. No mobile information is sold under any circumstances.

tagd sends SMS only to a number whose owner gave it to us for alerts about their own account, and only for operational messages about that account. Today that means an alert to the tagd operator when someone requests access to the application, which they approve or deny by replying. As we roll out buyer contact features, it will also mean an alert to a seller when a buyer requests a viewing or makes an offer on that seller's own listing. We do not send marketing or promotional text messages.

Message frequency. Message frequency varies and depends on account activity. Recipients should expect a small number of messages per month, typically fewer than ten.

Message and data rates may apply. Standard message and data rates from your mobile carrier may apply to messages you send or receive.

HELP and STOP. Reply HELP for assistance or STOP to stop receiving messages at any time. Replying STOP ends message delivery to that number. You may also stop messages by removing the number from your account settings or by emailing us.

Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

How we use information

Service providers

We rely on a small number of providers to run tagd. They process information on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes:

What we do not do

Retention

We keep account and listing information while your account is active. Sign-in codes expire within minutes. Viewing requests and offers are kept with the listing they were sent to. The key that groups repeat visits to an item is destroyed when the item is marked sold or after 45 days, whichever comes first, as described under Tag scans and link clicks. You can ask us to delete your account and its listings at any time, and we will do so unless we are required to keep something for legal reasons.

If you contacted a seller and want your request removed, email us at hello@ontagd.com. We can delete it from tagd, but we cannot retrieve it from the seller it was already sent to.

Your choices

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the information we hold about you by emailing hello@ontagd.com. You can unsubscribe from mailing-list email using the link in any message.

Children

tagd is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

We will update this page if our practices change, and we will revise the effective date above.
